US Visa Guide for Filipino Passport Holders
I never really planned on applying for a US visa, but I decided to challenge myself. Some of my friends had applied and were denied, which made me curious about the process. Besides, I don't have any family in the USA, so I wondered what I would even do there. However, I wanted to see if I could successfully navigate the application process.

My Interview Experience
Unlike the Schengen Visa, which requires document submission and a 15-day wait, the US Visa process includes a face-to-face interview with immediate results. I was scheduled for an interview on January 11, 2024. I was incredibly nervous and kept praying, especially since the officer I was assigned to had rejected many previous applicants.
When it was my turn, I faced the officer with all the confidence I could muster. The conversation was brief but felt like a lifetime:
Officer: Why America?
Me: I want to see Taylor Swift. Sorry, I like to explore new places. (She smiled)
Officer: What is your work?
Me: I work as a Technical Writer in International Maritime Industries.
Officer: What countries have you visited?
Me: United Arab Emirates, Jordan, State of Palestine, Israel, Bahrain, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Qatar, and Egypt.
Officer: Stop! Welcome to the USA! Approved!
It was the sweetest "yes" I have ever heard in my life. I left my passport with the officer and was told I could collect it after 15 days. A text message would be sent to me when it was ready for pickup.
