Getting a Netherlands Schengen Visa

As a first-time applicant for a Schengen Visa, I decided to apply through the Netherlands. Based on 2023 data, the Netherlands has a high approval rate for Philippine passport holders, with 42,555 visas approved and an impressive 94.10% approval rate. This generosity made it an appealing choice for me.

Additionally, I have an aunt living in Amsterdam, which means I can visit her and potentially save on accommodation costs. Plus, the idea of exploring the beautiful canals and vibrant culture of Amsterdam was incredibly exciting.

Why is it Called a Schengen Visa?

The Schengen Visa gets its name from the Schengen Agreement, which was signed in Schengen, Luxembourg. This agreement allows for passport-free travel across many European countries, making it easier for travelers like me to explore multiple destinations with a single visa.

My Travel History

Before applying for the Schengen Visa, I had traveled to several countries, including United Arab Emirates, Jordan, State of Palestine, Israel, Bahrain, Georgia, Armenia, Holy See, and Turkey. This travel history helped demonstrate my experience and reliability as a traveler.

For  visa application, they partnered with VFS Global. The processing fee was SAR 700, and the visa processing time was approximately 15 days. My travel dates were set for November 19 to 26, 2023.
